The site is built to collect as little as possible. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies. The only records are ordinary server logs and any email a reader chooses to send.

What the site does not collect

The pages of Go-Star Antiquing & Collecting are plain documents. Reading them does not require an account, a name or an email address, and there are no forms that submit personal data. Nothing on the site places a cookie in the browser, whether for preferences, advertising or measurement.

There is no analytics software of any kind: no page counter, heat map, session recorder or advertising tag. There are no social media buttons and no embedded videos or maps that would report a visit to another company. Fonts, images, style sheets and scripts are all served from the site’s own server, so loading a page does not send the reader’s address to an outside service.

The one small script on the site runs entirely in the browser. It opens the mobile menu, expands the answers in the question sections and adds a few visual effects as the page scrolls. It stores nothing and sends nothing anywhere.

Server access logs

Like almost every web server, the server that hosts the site writes a line to an access log for each request it receives. A typical entry contains the IP address the request came from, the date and time, the page or file requested and whether it was delivered, the address of the page that linked to it if the browser sends one, and the user agent string that names the browser and operating system.

These logs exist to keep the site running and secure: to spot attacks, block abusive traffic and find broken links. They are not used to build profiles of readers, not combined with other data and not sold or shared for marketing. They are kept for a limited period and then deleted in the normal course of log rotation.

Email sent to the editors

A reader who writes to [email protected] shares the message itself and the address it came from, plus anything the reader chooses to include, such as a name or a photograph of an object. That information is used only to answer the message and, where it concerns an article, to check and make a correction.

Messages are not added to a mailing list, not passed to third parties and not used for marketing. They are kept as long as the matter they raise needs, and then deleted. Anyone who wants a message or its reply deleted sooner can ask at the same address.

Children, rights and changes

The site is written for a general adult audience and does not knowingly collect information from children. Because it holds no accounts and no profiles, there is no stored personal data to view or export beyond server logs and email. Readers can ask what the editors hold about them, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to the editorial address.

If the way the site handles data changes, for example if a feature is added that needs a cookie, this notice will be updated before the change takes effect. Questions about privacy go to the same address as everything else, and the contact page explains what the editors can and cannot help with. The about page describes who edits the site.

Questions and answers

Does Go-Star Antiquing & Collecting use cookies?

No. The site sets no cookies of any kind, whether for preferences, advertising or measurement. It also runs no analytics, shows no ads and loads no scripts, fonts or images from other companies, so reading the articles leaves no trace beyond the ordinary server log.

What does the Go-Star server log record?

Each request is logged with the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page if the browser sends it, and the browser’s user agent string. The logs are used only to keep the site secure and working, are not shared or sold, and are deleted after a limited period.

What happens to an email sent to the editors?

It is used only to answer the message and, if it reports an error, to check and correct the article. Messages are not added to any mailing list or passed to anyone else, and they are deleted once the matter is closed. A reader can ask for earlier deletion at [email protected].

Is any personal data sold or shared?

No. The site does not sell, rent or share personal information with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else. The only personal data it ever handles are server log entries and emails that readers choose to send, and both are used only for running the site and answering messages.
