Alexander Sadoyan,
Bridging the gap between the abstract and reality

Alexander Sadoyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1954. Being raised and educated in the former Soviet Union, Sadoyan was marinated in the USSR's many cultural spices which boasted of world-renowned arts and classic theatre.

Extensive training, exhibitions, museum placements, catalogs, housing - everything an artist of Sadoyan's stature and ability could dream of - were provided to him. He, like other government-sponsored artists, was given these things in exchange for producing an "acceptable" art form.

But artists like Sadoyan only had to paint under government directives about 20 percent of the time. The rest of their energies could be spent rendering subjects of their own choosing. In addition, because they were so well-trained in drawing as well as most aspects of art, most could move from figurative work and still-life to landscapes, portraits, and genre scenes.

In his career, Sadoyan has brilliantly bridged the gap between the abstract and reality. He has experimented with different mediums, but currently paints with oil on canvas. His palette is rich and vibrant. His studio is in Glendale, California, far from his native Armenia.

Sadoyan paints and sees our human universe with mind and heart. His art is about God, inner reality, and powerful energies.

"I paint forms and shapes to convey energy and spiritual condition," he said. "The colors and rhythms become the theme. The images are put together in a dreamlike sequence, to reinforce the reality of the metaphysical world."

Forces of nature and the mysterious inner life of mankind are themes that have been consistent in Sadoyan's work. "My paintings are inspired by human life," he says, "in conjunction with the landscape of nature's abstract color-forms. With association of color and shapes, I strive to communicate my feelings and convey interpersonal emotions."

Sadoyan has participated in many international art exhibitions and his works may be found in private collections throughout the United States, France, Germany, Canada, Russia, Switzerland, China and Norway. He will soon be displayed at several galleries in La Jolla, Palm Desert, Carmel and Scottsdale, California.

Original paintings by Sadoyan sell between $1,200 and $6,500. His work is available for publishing, licensing and for purchase by private collectors. Dealer inquiries are welcome.
